Past month, Demasa (the World’s largest producer/exporter of preserved hearts of palm), was present at SIAL Paris 2012, the World’s largest food fair involving some 5,900 companies from 200 countries.
Nine “Tico” companies were at the exhibition, offering pasta, rice, frozen tubers, pineapple juice, hearts of palm (Demasa), roasted coffee, canned yuca, sugar substitutes, frozen tropical fruits and canned tuna, said the Foreign Trade Promotion Office (PROCOMER) and the Chamber of Exporters of Costa Rica.
In addition to the companies´ stands, the Costa Rica delegation hosted a coffee shop.
Álvaro Piedra, PROCOMER’s promotion manager, said Europe is an important trading partner for Costa Rica. In 2011, 547 local companies exported $1.8 billion worth of products to this continent.
